Dave Davenport III

Dave Davenport, III was born in Vallejo, CA on July 4, 1956 to the union of the late Dave Davenport, Jr. and Jessie C. Wilder. Dave was affectionately called Davey by his family and friends. He graduated from College Park High School, Pleasant Hill, CA. continuing his education at Diablo Valley College. He accepted Christ at an early age. He served as an Usher at Taylor Chapel Church in Vallejo. In 1974 Davey was drafted to serve in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war. After his honorable discharge he returned to Vallejo. Davey and his childhood sweetheart Serella Ellis became the proud parents of their son the late Dave Davenport IV. He later met and married the Love of his Life Bridgette Hill on May 8, 1984. This union lasted for 38 years and were blessed with 12 children. Dave worked for Condor Construction as a painter for 10 years. He made a career change working another 10 years as a custodian for Cash Mart. For a short time he worked for Mare Island and the Oakland Army Base. Davey was injured in an auto accident and suffered throughout the remainder of his life from that injury. He loved restoring old cars and and settled on becoming a part-time mechanic. He worked for many years until his health began to decline passing his mechanical expertise to his sons. Davey spent a lot of his time watching old TV westerns and karate movies. He talked a lot about his children whom he was very proud of and loved dearly. Davey will be dearly missed by those he loved and by those who loved him. We will remember his giving heart, his smile, and his legacy of Love. He is preceded in death by his father Dave Davenport, Jr., his sons, Dave IV, and Derek; and by his daughters, Tazhea and Tauana. Dave leaves behind to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his wife, Bridgette Davenport of Vallejo, his mother, Jessie Davenport-Lee of American Canyon, 5 brothers:, Dwight Davenport of Oakland, Charles Davenport (Ofelia) of Suisun City, David Lee Jr., of Antioch, Charles Lee (Louise) Sandy of Utah, Robert Lee of Napa; and 5 sisters: Birlee Davenport-Lever (Wilbert) of Pine Bluff AR, Sandra Davenport-McCleod (William) of Vallejo, Sheryl Davenport-Robertson of American Canyon, Patricia McCoy of Las Vegas, Anita Lee of Las Vegas; 2 daughters: Tatiana Davenport of Vallejo, Tezia Davenport of Vallejo, and 7 sons; Davion Davenport of Vallejo, Devaughn Davenport of Vallejo, De Andra Davenport (Ebony) of Sacramento, Deion Davenport of Vallejo, Devonte Davenport of Sacramento, Donta Davenport (Akilah) of Atlanta, GA, Daniel Davenport of Walnut Creek; 20 grandchildren, and host of other relatives and friends. His viewing will be held on Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home on Friday, March 03, 2023. His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 04, 2023 at 11 AM at Union Baptist Church located at 128 Encerti Avenue, Vallejo. Burial will be in the Sacramento Valley Nation Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620. Arrangements entrusted to Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol Street, Vallejo, CA 94590.
