It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved matriarch, long-time Vallejo, California resident and Florida native, Catherine Allen Buckner who departed this life on Friday, February 13, 2026 in Fairfield, CA. Her viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 3 PM to 6 PM. Her funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Sunrise Memorial Cemetery located at 2201 Sacramento Street, Vallejo, CA 94590. A beacon of strength, grace, and unwavering love, Catherine leaves behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. Born on Wednesday, April 22, 1931, amidst the serene rural landscapes of the Springville Community in Lake City, Florida, Catherine was the cherished first daughter of Chester and Lizzie Thomas Allen. She was born into their loving family of ten children, a testament to the vibrant household that shaped her early years. Her spiritual journey began at at early age at Springville AME Church, where she actively contributed to its mission and fellowship, forming her strong moral compass and deep-rooted faith. On January 11, 1952, Catherine entered into holy matrimony with the devoted Rudy V. Buckner in Charlton, Georgia. Their enduring love story led them to Vallejo, CA where Catherine's pursuit of knowledge and passion for caring florished. She continured her education at Vallejo High School and dedicated herself to vacational training, ultimately earning her credentials as a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse. For over four decades, Catherine served with unwavering dedication at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo, touching countless lives with her expertise, empathy, and comforting presence. She was more than a nurse, she was a healer, a confidante, and a source of strength to her patients and colleagues alike. Catherine is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Chester and Lizzie Thomas Allen; her brothers Elbert, Allen, Nehmia Allen, and Emanuel Allen; her sisters, Thelma Wilson, Ethel Skinner, and Leola Grooms; her devoted husband Rudy V. Buckner; her dear children Leonard Buckner, Mattie Alice Hatchett, and Melinda Collins, and her cherished granddaughter, Kisha Pearson. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Larry Buckner, Howard Buckner, Walter Buckner, Mildred Smith Buckner, and Mary Atkins Brayboy, a loving daughter-in-law, Kathy Buckner, and sons-in-law, Larry Brayboy and Kenny Atkins, her beloved sisters, Tabitha Allen and Steavie Roberts, her brother, Paul Allen, and her sister-in-law Deborah Allen; her adored grandchildren, Jerome Alexander, Nehmia Hatchett,Nicodemus Hatchett, Regins Collins, Rene Collins, Kenneth Atkins, Shelema Atkins, Latrice Conley and Tamara Buckner, a dear son-in-law Derek Conley; precious great-grandchildren, Darion Atkins, Soraya Portis, Macaiah Conley, Liam Conley, and Chance Forest. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed by her presence. Catherine Allen Buckner's enduring spirit, profound wisdon, and steadfast love will forever will be etched in our memories. She lived a life of purpose, compassion, and wavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
