    Nancy Miles Washington

    January 13, 1939 - December 17, 2021

Nancy Miles Washington was the first child born to Young Miles, Sr., and Gertrude Miles (nee: Toliver) on January 13, 1939, in Chase. Louisiana. Her parents had one other child, Nancys only sibling, Young Miles, Jr. She spent her childhood in Winnsboro and Rayville, Louisiana and received her primary education there. Along with her parents and brother, Nancy attended church and was baptized at Oak Grove in Winnsboro. Later, she relocated to New Orleans as a junior in high school. She completed her high school education at Walter L. Cohen High School in New Orleans. In 1957, she met and married Will "Billy" Edward Drisdell in New Orleans, Louisiana. Two children were born to this union: Michael Edward Drisdell , who preceded her in death in 1997, and Alfreda (nee: Drisdell) Roquemore. Nancy was a life-long resident of New Orleans. After a few years of marriage, Nancy and Billy were divorced. In 1987 she met and married Earnest "Sticks" Washington and remained his loving and faithful wife until his death in 2001. Nancy was a devoted and faithful member of Greater Mt. Rose Baptist Church in New Orleans under the leadership of Reverend G. Murray, Sr. While there, she was a member of the choir and participated in other church auxiliaries as well. Nancy's final wish was to be buried near her beloved mother, Gertrude Toliver who entered eternal rest in Vallejo, California on September 02, 2021 at the age of 101 years old. Her final arrangements were entrusted to the profession staff at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol Street, Vallejo, CA. 94590.
