Gertrude Laura Toliver was born on October 19, 1919, in Fort Necessity, Louisiana. While living in Louisiana she married and had two children, Nancy Washington (New Orleans), and Young Miles, Jr., who preceded her in death. In the 1960's she moved to the Bay Area and made Oakland, California her permanent home. Shortly thereafter, she was hired by the United States Postal Service as a Postal Clerk. She retired from that position in 1990. In 2007, she moved to Vallejo to live with her granddaughter and her family. Gertrude passed away at home of natural causes on September 02, 2021. Her visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 10 AM to 12 Noon, followed by a graveside service from 1 PM to 1:30 PM at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park Cemetery located at 4100 Hilltop Drive in Richmond, CA.
