Sheryl Denise Davenport-Robertson

Sheryl Denise Davenport-Robertson was born in Vallejo CA on December 19,1953 to the union of the late Dave Davenport, Jr. and Jessie C. Wilder. Sheryl graduated from Vallejo High School, Vallejo, CA, continuing her education at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Taylor Chapel CME Church here in Vallejo, CA. She started her career as part of the clerical staff of Allstate Insurance in 1973 and after two years of service she accepted a management position at Ortho Green Vending Company. Sheryl enjoyed her time at Ortho Green Vending and became fast friends with the owners of the company, Robert DeLeon and Actress Diahann Carroll. Sheryl later met Frederick Robertson-they married and relocated to southern California. There, she was hired as an accountant for the University of California at Irvine where she spent five years. She and Frederick moved back to Vallejo and Sheryl worked as an area manager for Cash Marts sixteen locations throughout the Bay area until she became disabled. Sheryl and Frederick were blessed with two children, Ahmad and Amber. Sheryl enjoyed reading books and had a vast collection of autobiographies-she could converse with you regarding many topics. During the Disco Era she loved to go dancing and was a smooth operator on the dance floor. She and her cousin Elaine were unstoppable at playing bid whist and dominoes. Of course, Sheryl was an avid music, theatre, and movie lover, filling her house with music as she cooked and enjoyed eating gourmet meals while never gaining an extra pound. Sheryl loved her children and grandchildren very much and spoke of them in every conversation. She was clearly very proud of them. Sheryl will be dearly missed by those she loved and by those who loved her. She fought her battle against COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) with unwavering courage for five years. Despite spending much of that time in the hospital she never lost her infectious smile. Throughout her entire journey she spread joy and made everyone laugh while showing remarkable strength. Her humor and bravery will be missed. We will remember her Humor, Smile, and Legacy of Love. She was preceded in death by her father Dave Davenport, Jr., step-father David Lee, Jr., and her brother, Dave Davenport, III. Sheryl leaves behind to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory- daughter, Amber Robertson of Vallejo, CA, her son, Ahmad Robertson of Napa, CA, grandchildren, Ahmani Robertson and Ahmir Robertson of Napa, CA, Autumn Mackbee of Vallejo, CA,; her great-grandchild, Ahsani Robertson; her mother, Jessie Davenport-Lee of American Canyon, CA; five brothers, Dwight Davenport of Oakland, CA, Charles Davenport (Ofelia) of Suisun City, CA, David lee, Jr (Eunice) of Las Vegas, NV, Charles Lee (Louise) of Sandy, UT, Robert Lee of Napa, CA; five sisters, Birlee Davenport-Lever (Wilbert) of Pine Bluff, AR, Sandra Davenport-McCleod (William) of Vallejo, CA, Patricia McCoy of Las Vegas, NV, Anita Lee of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of relatives and friends.
