David Arthur Sullen

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Arthur Sullen, age 65, on June 12, 2024. A beloved father, dedicated Army veteran, and cherished brother and friend, David's legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering commitment to his family and country. David was born on October 13, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Earl and Mary Sullen. From an early age, he exhibited a strong sense of duty and compassion, qualities that would define his life's journey. Upon graduating from high school, David answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. He served with honor and bravery, forging bonds with fellow servicemen that lasted a lifetime. After his military career, David continued to serve others through his work at St. Mary's hospital and as a faithful member of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, Vallejo, CA. David approached his church community with boundless affection and energy. He served as an usher and was always ready to take on additional responsibilities. His church family will remember him as a pillar of strength, a man whose love knew no bounds and whose sacrifices were innumerable. In his spare time you might find David feeding the unhoused in Vallejo, offering food he collected from church with a friendly smile and words of encouragement. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, especially during the winning seasons of the 90's. He is survived by one child, Jesmond Sullen: three sisters, Mary (Lee), Spencena (William), Sondia, two brothers, Arthur (Kim), Donald (Paulene), a beloved nephew Anthony (Kelly), and a former wife and good friend, Katherine Barquette. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Sullen, two brothers, George and Earl, and his grandmother, Louise Wright who he is now reunited with in eternal peace. A celebration of David's life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home. The viewing will commence at 9:00 AM, on Monday, July 01, 2024 followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment with full military honors will take place at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA. His generosity of spirit and commitment to helping others earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. David's life was a testament to the values he held dear: love, service, and integrity. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
